As the CRPF celebrates 75 years of its commissioning, I feel privileged to have received an opportunity to add tune to the beautifully penned words by Javed Akhtar saab. This is the third time in a row that Javed saab and me have collaborated together to work on an anthem, the earlier works being an anthem for the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and the Central Industrial Security Force ( CISF)….

The CRPF composition was dedicated to the force and the nation by our President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, the President spoke of the threats to India’s security and sovereignty from various forces and hailed the commendable role of the CRPF in ensuring the safety and security of India and its citizens. It was a proud moment when the President expressed his gratitude to Javed saab and me, for creating an anthem befitting the valour and spirit of the CRPF The anthem has two versions, one lyrical and the other a marching tune and has been sung by noted play back singer Javed Ali . The composition also has a version sung by a chorus. The anthem is set to lyrics that are simple ,yet extremely emotive and a tune that will inspire and encourage the soldiers to be the best they can for the nation.

Singer-composer Raju Singh scores a century with Ek Villain

Raju Singh has completed his 100th film in background scores with Ek Villain. He has earlier scored background music for films like CityLights (2014), Murder 3 (2013), Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 (2013), Raaz 3 (2012), We Are Family (2010), Life In A Metro (2007), Page 3 (2005), Ishq Vishk (2003) and Chandni Bar (2001), to name a few.

Explaining the importance of background music, Singh says, “Though most dismiss background score as something insignificant, it’s the actual element that communicates the director’s vision. It makes an impact on the scene. In Ek Villain, the background score puts across the darkness in the romance.”

Interestingly, Raju and director Mohit Suri have been friends for long and have worked together on Zeher (2005), Raaz – The Mystery Continues (2009), Murder 2 (2011), Aashiqui 2 (2013) and now, Ek Villain. Raju says, “Mohit has always amazed me with his understanding of relationships. What he brings forth on screen, not many can, even after years.” Adds Mohit, “Raju works meticulously on the background music. Most importantly, when I complete my films, as a director, I feel alone. And in such times, Raju stands by me working with me on the post-production.”

Besides giving background scores, Raju has even sung songs — Rooh Mein picturised on the late Farooq Sheikh for Club 60 and Zabaan Jale Hai for Dedh Ishqiya.

RAJU SINGH COMPOSES A SONG PENNED BY JAVED AKHTAR, SUNG BY SONY NIGAM AND SUNIDHI CHAUHAN

– A musical boost for demoralised CISF – especially those posted in Naxal-dominated areas

The Central Industrial Security Force(CISF) which looks after the security of all important industrial establishments in the country aims to boost the morale of its security personnel. They plan on doing this through a theme song that will be sung by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan..

Javed Akhtar has penned the lyrics, while Raju Singh has composed the music for the song.

The theme song opens with the line, ‘Humko jaan se pyaara hamara desh hai, desh ki raksha karna apna yehi uddesh hai, apna sandesh hai.

“The jawans are posted at hundreds of sensitive areas such as industries, ports, airports, nuclear plants, power plants, steel plants etc. Most of these are in sensitive areas, where the jawans work round the clock to protech them from terrorist attacks.

“Keeping in mind the emotions & the job responsibilities of the brave personnel the music was composed”, Raju Singh was quoted saying.
